The WSET Level 3 wine course is considered one of the top wine courses in the world and the entry point to real wine expertise and potential sommelier careers. It is also the natural next step after the WSET 2 wine certification for those that want to take their passion and understanding of wine to a professional level.
What you’ll learn
Wine making is a rich and complex process with thousands of years of history behind it. On this course we’ll break down the essentials of the process into manageable sections so that you can lay a strong foundation of knowledge for your adventures into the world of wine. We’ll focus on:
- Grape Growing
- Wine Production
Once we’ve laid the groundwork of depth of understanding for all the principles of wine making you’ll then dive into how those factors will affect the characteristics of over 80 different wines from around the world, from still to sparkling and fortified wines. By the end of the course you will have deep, professional level insights into a vast array of wines, from grape to glass.
Each part of this course informs the next. Using the depth of knowledge you’ll have about a whole range of internationally renowned wines you’ll learn how to apply that knowledge to wine analysis, and importantly, the explanation of wine, accurately describing how and why the wine has its unique and exciting characteristics.
The WSET Level 3 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine® (SAT) combines logical, systematic and professional wine tasting methods into one formula that is absolutely invaluable to wine connoisseurs. You’ll learn a step by step approach, looking in depth at the appearance, nose and palate of a wine, as well as gaining a globally recognised lexicon.
Using the SAT you will then be able to accurately use your palate to analyse, evaluate and describe the wines that you will taste throughout your life. This is an essential skill that differentiates the wine lover from the wine connoisseur and will allow you to experience wine in a way you never had before.
The Island of Mallorca is home to one of the most important wine making regions in Spain, D.O. Binissalem! This makes it the perfect place to explore the world of wine, with a guided visit to one of the top vineyards in the area so you can see firsthand how wine is made from grape to glass.
You’ll also have time to sample the blossoming food and drink scene in the capital city where our Academy is located, Palma de Mallorca, eating and drinking at some amazing restaurants and bars and getting a true taste of the island. And of course you’ll have time to adventure around the other towns, mountains and coastlines and see for yourself why Mallorca is a top holiday destination worldwide.
